When Ed Tullett announced he was stepping back from performing live, due to its effect on his mental and physical health, he wanted to find a way to further the conversation. Having deepened his interest in photography and videography over the past few years, Ed decided to capture his experiences on tour in a new creative venture.
The result is World Over, a documentary that offers a unique and candid exploration of life on the road. Pulled together from hours of footage Ed shot during his final live performances with the band Novo Amor, World Over offers an unfiltered look at the often overlooked aspects of touring: the monotony of travel, the repetitiveness of playing the same show over and over, and the disorientation of being in ever-changing and unfamiliar places for a day or two at a time.
Its soundtrack is a double record, the first part a collection of 8 songs written in the lead up to the documented tour and produced in mid-2025, a richly dark set of atmospheric acoustic songs, backed by deep, textural electronic drones and real strings. The second part is a 10-track instrumental ambient record that Ed wrote and produced entirely whilst touring Europe in 2022, very much as an escape equal to that of making the film it soundtracks.
World Over is not intended to be a traditional touring documentary, and Ed hopes it will help viewers see a more nuanced perspective on the realities of life on the road and the expectations of touring. “It’s not meant to be a promotional piece,” Ed affirms, “it’s an honest portrayal of what it’s like to tour, especially for those who may never have experienced it themselves.” Ultimately, the film serves as a reflection on the challenges and complexities of touring, offering a rare glimpse into the emotional and physical toll of the lifestyle.
Intended to show a more realistic side of touring compared to the usual hand-picked and finessed exciting moments, the film explores the monotony of its constant travel, the repetitiveness of playing the same show over and over, and the disorientation of being in ever changing, unfamiliar places for a day or two at a time.
